Habilitation

With Habilitation Services, training and supervision are provided to enhance or maintain the member’s self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills to enable them to live and participate effectively within the community.

 

This service is delivered at the member’s residence by Habilitation Providers who engage in one-on-one interactions with the child, conducting activities that impart essential skills and foster positive behavior. The primary objectives of these services encompass communication, socialization, gross and fine motor skills, cognition, and adaptive behavior.

 

Parents assume a pivotal role in habilitation services by collaborating with Habilitation Providers to establish goals, coordinate services, and actively participate in the home-based program. Habilitation Providers are typically paraprofessionals with varying levels of training and experience.
